Autumn cup finals thriller
Saturday, 14 August saw the finals of the Autumn Cup take place at Worcester Cricket Academy.
Six teams competed on the day to become league winners and also play-off winners.
In the A3 Finals, it was Bailers vs Hammies. It was a hard-fought game from both sides with bat and ball and standout performances from both sides. Eventually, Bailers were the worthy winners of both the league and play-offs and deservedly so, having gone unbeaten in 15 games to win their respective final.
The bar was certainly set by the A3 Final and the A2 Final did not disappoint at all.
The A2 Final saw Die Bailies vs Worcester Titans go head to head. Talk about a nail-biter that went down to the final ball which saw Worcester Titans winning the play-off final.
Die Bailies did, however, secure the league cup. The much anticipated A1 Final saw Ball Crew vs Twakrollers (Robertson) with both teams showing great skill and heart during this final. Ball Crew was the dominant side throughout the league and continued that form in the final.
The Ball Crew side is another side to have gone through 13 games undefeated throughout the league. According to Afzal Khan, the Autumn Cup league has been an amazing success and one that has certainly reignited indoor cricket in our town and helped build that camaraderie among business employees and cricketing enthusiasts.
He congratulated the winners of all the respective leagues as well as all the teams that participated, especially those that were first-time participants. Khan further expressed his appreciation for all the support from the community and hope to see everyone in the new league starting 6 September.
