Silverfox snake rescue
A Langerug resident who lives across from Worcester Primary School, caught sight of a Cape Cobra last Thursday and contacted André du Preez from Silver Fox Snake Rescue, who came out in an amazing time of just seven minutes to help find the snake, which had disappeared into her yard.
Asked how he had managed to find the snake, Du Preez said when he arrived at the resident’s house, he packed wood pieces to form a wood house, which would hopefully lead him to the snake.
He further shared it was the sound of birds that led him to the bush the snake was hiding in. “It was approximately 1,5 metres long and highly venomous.”
The avid snake-catcher also mentioned that since the middle of September this year, he has already caught about 75 snakes in the Worcester area. Du Preez also encouraged the public to donate to his services, as he often has to drive as far as 25 km out of town to free snakes and release them back into nature.
If you spot a snake near or in your house, don’t hurt or touch it. Seal it off and call André on 082 305 9209.
