Coal City Wizards’ magic seems to wander off the field

The soccer ladies of eMalahleni’s Coal City Wizards seem not to have the ball on their side in the Hollywoodbets Ladies soccer league after losing a second game in a row with an eight-point defeat.

Local ladies’ team Coal City Wizards playing in the Hollywoodbets Ladies soccer league had a bad opening match when they were beaten 9-1 by the University of the Western Cape (UWC).

They now have lost their second match in a row as they were also beaten by UJ 5-0.

They lost their first game on Saturday, February 4 and again on Sunday, February 12.

While the Wizards are losing their games Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and UJ are setting the pace and getting the ball rolling.

Sundowns Ladies came from a goal down to beat Ma-Indies Ladies 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon to go back to the summit of the Hollywoodbets Super League table.

They would be usurped on Sunday afternoon after UJ beat Coal City Wizards.

The result sees the Jo’burg side rocket to the top of the standings on goal difference, while the Mpumalanga side languishes at the foot of the table.

Both of the league’s newcomers suffered defeats, with Copperbelt going down 3-0 away at TUT FC while the University of Pretoria were beaten 3-1 at home by TS Galaxy Queens.

Elsewhere in the league, Royal AM’s clash against First Touch Academy finished goalless while Durban Ladies grabbed an excellent 3-0 win away at Thunderbirds.
