New hospital is a necessity, but the infrastructure is a huge obstacle
Emalahleni needs another hospital, but the municipality can already not provide basic services without interruptions. How much more strain can the failing infrastructure take?
It seems that the plans to build a tertiary hospital are going through all the ranks.
Following a meeting on February 25, the municipality was asked to confirm the availability of bulk services to the development.
The ground next to Highveld Mall on Mandela Street is earmarked for the new hospital.
They responded and said there are bulk infrastructure challenges, but this will be addressed and recommended that the developer implement a water conservation, water demand strategy, and energy efficiency strategy among others.
