Afrotainment Night in Emalahleni
For home-grown talent at its best, The Ridge is hosting an Afrotainment Night in eMalahleni featuring a group of musically acclaimed artists under the Afrotainment record label on Saturday, 5 September 2015.
Owner and producer of Afrotainment, Mthokozisi Khathi, affectionately known as DJ Tira is set to bring his musical flair to The Ridge. It was love at first beat for this music loving DJ and his love for music quickly turned into an enduring passion. Today he is one of the most sought after DJ’s on the continent.
DJ Tira will be sharing the stage with popular artists on his Afrotainment label, such as BIG NUZ, the well-known and highly celebrated Durban-based kwaito group, and Sifiso Mjoli also known as DJ Fisherman.
We are incredibly excited to bring this Afrotainment Night to eMalahleni, says The Ridge Marketing Manager, Sharika Betts. All of the entertainers are seasoned musos and are set to deliver a formidable show, she adds.
BIG NUZ consists of a super talented trio namely, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, Mzi “Danger” Tshomela and until recently, the late Sbusiso “R Mashesha” Khoma who passed away on Friday, 7 August.
Afrotainment released BIG NUZ’s second album called “2nd Round Knockout”. The album was a chart topper and sold over 20 000 copies in South Africa. The album won the award for the Best Kwaito Album at the 2008 METRO FM Awards and received a nomination at the 2008 Channel O Music Awards. In August 2015 BIG NUZ released their new album “For the Fans” receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
DJ Fisherman learned to deejay in the year 2002 and started playing around the area in taverns and shows within the township. From there he learned to produce music in his bedroom at home and his first track “Mhlabe” became so popular in the province (KwaZulu-Natal) everyone wanted to know who had done it. He soon got a call from DJ Tira.
Support acts on the night will include up and coming acts, such as Amenisto from Gagasi 99.5FM, Makokorosh (Senzo Langa), Sizwe Nkomazi and Phlysoul.
“This is guaranteed to be a great event, we are anticipating a sold-out show and encourage fans to book their tickets early,” concludes Betts.
Be sure not to miss this show!
