Paarl and the Winelands has a great selection of markets all year round.

 

Freedom Market

Where? Freedom Village, 301, Wemmershoek Road, Paarl

When? Saturdays and Sundays from 09:00 – 15:00.

Slow down and soak it up at Freedom Village, situated in the heart of the beautiful Winelands between Paarl and Franschhoek on R301.

Freedom Weekend Market is the bustling place to be for foodies and lovers of all things nice to meet over weekends. Bring the kids and your friends and family for an awesome day out!

 

Windmeul Cellar Farmers’ Market

Where? Windmeul Winery on the R44

When? 08:00 – 12:00 on the first Saturday of the month

The Windmeul Cellar Farmers Market is a family-friendly foodie event hosted at the winery once a month. The market offers visitors a feast of produce and delicious deli treats, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a kid-friendly outing while soaking up country living at its tastiest.

All of the vendors are proudly local and have been hand-selected for the passion that they display for their craft.

 

Franschhoek Village Market

Where? 29 Hugenot Road, Franschhoek

When? Saturday’s from 9am – 3pm

village-market-200x133The Franschhoek Village Market is a family friendly food and craft market set in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley. Trading every Saturday, It is a food and craft market found under the shade of oak trees next to the historic NG Kerk Church. The market originally started out as a simple fresh-produce farmers’ market, but has since grown rapidly to include a wide selection of home-made treats.

It offers locals and visitors alike a vast array of high-quality, fresh, organic produce, delectable deli goods, craft items and local artwork. Handmade breads, home-made ginger beer, smoked cheese, local olive oils, craft beers, springrolls, and much, much more are available to taste and purchase. In terms of crafts, look out of delicate wire sculptures, gorgeous silver jewellery, African curios and artwork, antique collectables and second-hand books – to name a few.

Pure Boland Groenstoor Market

Where? The Greenshed, Brandwacht, Worcester

When? 08:00 – 13:00 on the first Saturday of the month

pure bolandThis is a market you certainly want to attend. From wine, to craft beer to roosterkoek, there is something here for everyone.

Various local producers display and sell their products at the market. You will find a variety of the following at this unique market: fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from the area, delicious jams, preserves, olives, wines, pastries, biscuits, koeksisters, cakes, pestos, quiche, cupcakes, hertzoggies, pies, locally roasted coffee, artisan wood fired oven breads, croissants, sundried fruit, arts & crafts and much more.

Kiddies entertainment includes Sand Art and face painting.

Nederburg Slow Market – reopening 12 February 2022

Where? Nederburg Wines, Paarl

When? Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 15:00.

In the mood for a typical South African food experience matched with fine wines and local music? Then gather your family and friends, and make your way to Slow Market Nederburg in Paarl.

Slow Market Nederburg boasts an awesome kids’ play area, an expansive lawn and sprinkler fun for children. Outside areas are dog-friendly, but they must be on leashes and owners are to clean up after their pets.

The Nederburg Cab Corner Bar will be serving a variety of Nederburg’s award-winning wines, along with Berg River Brewery beers on tap, gin cocktails, sangria jugs and rosé ice lollies. Taste, learn and discover more about the world of wine with themed tutored tastings presented on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 and 11:30 – explore Nederburg’s wine range with a tutored tasting. Root44 Market – Currently closed for renovations

When? Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 – 16:00

Root44_750_469_s_c1Good food, delicious drinks, lively tunes and brilliant company is what the Root44 Market is all about. Come rain or shine, this market caters for all tastes. From gorgeous clothing and antiques, to delicious food, wine and craft beer there is something for everyone.

For the little people there is non-stop entertainment in the natural wood play park and lawn area. While the kids play enjoy a glass of local wine or ice-cold soft drink at the vibrant Blue Moon Bar. Pets are welcome.

 

Blaauklippen Family Market

Where? Blaauklippen Vineyards, Stellenbosch

When? 10:00 –15:00 on Saturdays and Sundays

Visit the carriage museum for seasonal fresh produce, cheese, homemade pies, olives, baked treats and much more. Interesting lifestyle products is on offer beneath the shade of the beautiful wild fig trees.

Make a note of tasting the excellent wine that Blaauwklippen has to offer. Enjoy a delicious cocktail or a chilled craft beer while enjoying some live music.
