Township Tours and Culture in Sebokeng
Immerse yourself in the experience of an authentic African holiday, with a Township Tour through Sebokeng…
Look no further than the curb in the Vaal’s townships, and you will find the ‘Spirit of the Lion’ inside of the Sotho, Zulu and Xhosa people. Experience the day to day life of the “ikassie” (township) on a township tour of Sebokeng.
Part of the Sedibeng district of the Vaal, Sebokeng is the largest township in the Vaal with a rich repertoire of struggle stories, often referred to as the ‘Cradle of the Human Rights Struggle’ by political leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki.
Book yourself in a township home-stay, get in touch with African living and mix with the locals and home owners, go shopping at the Sebokeng Mall, visit the Christopher Nengelembe Memorial in Sebokeng zone seven, have your hair braided by Status Salon in zone ten, grab a quick bite to eat at Mashego Cafe and then end the day in a night club, a local shebeen or tavern (pub or bar) like the Black Stoep in zone six and relax with an ice cold traditional brew and some local beats.
There is something for everyone to experience in Sebokeng.
