The Parys Museum
The Parys Museum showcases the history of the fascinating little town of Parys on the banks of the Vaal River, officially in the Northern Free State, but also a vital part of the Vaal are of South Africa (also called the Vaal Triangle).
There are many quaint old buildings in Parys, and the museum affords those whose interests go beyond the pretty facades a longer time to browse and contemplate Parys’ past and origins. The heritage of this popular town has always been treasured by its residents, and the museum exhibits hundreds of old photographs, documents and other memorabilia painstakingly collected for both preservation and appreciation.
The museum building is itself a National Monument, and is a perfect example of the Orange River Colony period of achitectural style.
Getting there: The Museum is situated in the Old Magistrates Office next to the Town Hall.
