MTB at Bass Lake, Henley-on-Klip, Gauteng
The Mountain Biking Track at Bass Lake, Henley-on-Klip is well known among local mtb enthusiasts, and makes the most of a Biosphere Reserve area very near to the huge metropolitan mass of Johannesburg.
Only 45km south of the Sandton suburb in outer Johannesburg, and a hop-and-a-skip from the Vaal Triangle own of Vereeniging, Henley-on-Klip is a pretty suburban village on the Klip River, known for its willow lined banks, birdwatching opportunities and the Bass Lake estate and recreational area.
The track is jeep track, only 9km long, and suitable for all levels – from inexperienced to experienced riders who can backtrack to extend the course and enjoy plenty of ‘obstacles’ that will test technical skills.
The Bass Lake mtb track offers a great day out combined with all the other fun activities and facilities offered at Bass Lake.
Getting there: Take the N12 south from Johannesburg toward, taking the Henly Drive off-ramp 12km from Alberton. Continue along Henley Drive for another 3km to a 3-way stop, then continue on to a 4 way stop, where you will turn left for Bass Lake.
