Horse Trails through the Vredefort Dome, Parys
Dome Horse Trails offer 1 to 2 day guided horse trails in the magnificent Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site in the Free State & Vaal areas of South Africa.
The trails move through pristine nature in the in a vast area considered to be the oldest impact crater on earth, featuring beautiful views and some fascinating geology. The area was declared a World Heritage Site in 2005 and is consequently a protected outdoors activities paradise, filled with wildlife and birds, particularly in the riverine areas where the Vaal River flows through the Dome. The terrain is varied, with some areas only accessible on horse-back or on foot.
The circular trails are suitable for all riding levels, from beginner to advanced, and run along the Vaal River through ravines, scrub and woodland, with refreshments served en-route. The guides are very experienced, and the cross-bred horses sure-footed and stable, with individual horses matched to each rider’s ability and experience.
Main meals are served back at the accommodation ‘base camp’ around a fire.
Dome Horse Trails also offer day out-rides without accommodation, sunset and afternoon rides, and moonlight rides on selected days through the year.

Hi there, a group of between 7 and 10 of us are interested in coming on a group horse ride on the 5th April 2019, as part a hen party. We’d all like to go first thing in the morning if possible, and would like to know whether this is possible, and how much it would cost. We are a mix between experienced riders and less experienced.
