Fun Things to do in Deneysville
The booming town of Deneysville is crowned, the inland water sport Mecca of the Southern Africa. Named aptly as it is the largest town on the Vaal river and showcases a vast expanse of water.
Approximately, 40 – 45 minutes away from Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark.
Bring out the water toy’s gals and boys, this water sport centre will accommodate yachting, boating catamaran cruising, swimming, jet skiing, wind surfing, skiing, kite boarding, snorkeling and fishing. Don’t despair if you can’t bring your own toys, you will find some for hire? This quaint town in the middle of the Vaal is the supreme retreat for water babies.
It keeps four yacht clubs and hosts regular weekend sailing events.
Looking for a safe place for children to play and adults to relax? Swim in the quarry or at the beach, at the Deneysville Aquatic club. Dining facilities are available for a bite to eat. If you’re pooped from the fresh air and a few days in the waters and in the sun. A good old-fashioned braai ( barbeque ) or picnic in the comfort of your travel companions or a book to read will soothe the soul. Braaing equipment is available from some facilities.
Deneysville is a registered urban Conservancy with a plethora of bird life, with 240 bird species, certifying it adept for bird watching. In January every year, the annual bird count takes place, attracting bird buffs from around South Africa. It’s a common occurrence to see hedgehog, hare and porcupine walking in town. Another local favourite is the Meer cat.
Visit the Crocodile farm on Lake Deneysville. Not only does the farm have crocodile but a pair of lions, Ostriches and Emus as well. If you get there on the right day, you might be in time to watch the crocodiles being fed.

Canter, trot or gallop on the banks of the Vaal, atop the back of our equestrian friends. Horse riding is available. The beauty of Deneysville has captivated many an artist and crafter. So there is no lack of arts and crafts to explore.
Expect summer highs of 26 degrees and winter lows of 0 degrees. Most facilities are available all year round. Rainy days allow for shopping, movies, art galleries, the biker museum and the Reitz castle.
Deneysville is surrounded by Oranjeville and Vaal Marina. Oranjeville is only 25 minutes away, while Vaal Marina is 35 minutes away. Visit Oranjeville for a memorable fishing excursion. Fishing competitions are held regularly by locals and out of towners alike. The dam is stocked well with Barbell, Yellow fish and Carp. One can enjoy much of the same sporting activity in Vaal Marina as in Deneysville .
