The tranquil gateway for the City People
Deneysville can be described as the tranquil getaway for the City people, after a busy week one can go there to relax.
One of the must see’s would be The Historic Motorcycle Museum; there you would find some of the most unique Historic motorcycles, showing race bikes and classic machinery. This museum is on the premises of one of the most luxurious Inn’s in Deneysville; the Lake Avenue Inn Guest Lodge. The Inn is biker
friendly so I would suggest taking you bike for a drive down to Deneysville and spend a long weekend by the Dam’s side and go take part in some of the festivities.
Deneysville is known for its Annual Yacht Races, the “Round the Island” race has been in the Guinness World Book of Records for being the Largest Island race in the world. Other races include the “Keel the Boat” and “Big Boat Ragatta” race.
Just outside Deneysville you will find Lake Deneys Yacht Club, which provides ample camping and caravan sites, Club Cottages or Club Caravans, Laundry Room, hot water showers and baths, an active junior sailing club for the little ones, boat overhauling/cleaning area and weekend social cruises.
Deneysville itself hosts 4 other Yacht Clubs.
The Vaal Dam’s shoreline runs forapproximately 600 kilometers
and is home to 8 other yacht clubs and 6 marinas, it is also the most convenient way to access the Vaal Dam.
If sailing and boat rides aren’t for you then there is horse riding stables and a few fishing camps. For the more shopping orientated people there is Danica’s, the only clothing and gift store in Deneysville, they also cater for children, Christmas decorations and freshly home made/grown herbs.
Bosun’s Locker is an Antique shop that mostly only trades on weekends (because most of Deneysville visitors are on weekends); sometimes they have second hand boats and rubber ducks. Then there is the Vleis Kombuis, one of two butchers in this village, popular for its meat and biltong.
Two of the most talked about restaurants is the Quaterdeck Restaurant and bar, last year they had a Christmas Fare event for all the local artists, farmers and crafters, to show off their many talents.
The other one is called The Saucer, with its unique name it is accessible by boat, and The Saucer actually does look like a “flying saucer” (if all the rumors about how it really does look are true).
The restaurant is quite popular with the bikers and is one of their stops on the breakfast run.
If you are a biker or just a really hard working City person then Deneysville and its relaxing atmosphere will definitely be for you.
