The First Ever Parys Arts Festival to be held 29 March to 15 April 2018
A first ever arts festival for Parys and the first arts festival in S.A. to cross two provinces.
Parys, Free State: an arts festival is to be held in Parys from the 29th March to the 15th April 2018. The festival is organised by the Parys Kunste Korps (Art Corps) a representative organization for artists from Parys and the surrounding areas. The festival aims to uplift local artists and highlight Parys as an art destination. Artworks and shows will be hosted by various venues throughout Parys to encourage tourism to the area.
The festival will be all-inclusive concerning the various art forms and artists. As such the festival aims to promote amongst others painting, sculpting, ceramics, dance, music, drama, theatre, photography and many more. Artists of all ages from school children to advanced solo artists will participate in the festival. This will be the first festival of it’s kind where exhibitions traverse two provinces namely the Free State and North West provinces.
The festival does not aim to compete with events like KKNK and Aardklop and will be uniquely different in its own right. The Art Corps are using all available resources to further the local arts and provide an engaging exhibition of works to art lovers.
Many excellent artists from all over South Africa will be represented at the festival. “Parys is reclaiming its diverse art repertoire and the Parys artists are excited to put their beloved town back in the number one spot as the art capital of the Free State” – Deon TerBlanche (Organiser.)
Over the duration of the festival an art-in-the-park exhibition, a fully fledged wine festival and a street carnival will be incorporated along with various talks and workshops. The wine festival hosted by Echo Wine Events (EchoRSA on Facebook) will be representing wines from over 20 wine estates. They will also host a themed four-course dinner especially paired with complimentary wines.
The art-in-the-park exhibition aims to feature more than 50 assorted artists at the well-known Egweni Resort on the banks of the Vaal River. This event will coincide with the very popular Hartelus Market at the same venue.
The Garden Coffee Shop & Lifestyle Centre will be hosting a street carnival where the street will be closed off (permission pending) to feature street artists, dancers, mimes, musicians, stalls and great food.
