LifeLine Vaal Triangle; Chatterbox April to June edition.
An apt theme for LifeLine! Trust is something that LifeLine embodies in all aspects of it’s existence. LifeLine Vaal, has been here for more than 31 years and has had to trust that the necessary resources would be found to provide the services to all community members. We have also had to carry on trusting and believing that it would continue. Our clients also place their trust in LifeLine when they open their hearts and tell their stories to our Lay Counsellors, in the hope that they can make some changes in their lives! It takes great courage and even greater trust to do this! Our Lay Counsellors are also trusting their abilities, knowledge and intuition when going in to the counselling room and giving of themselves to assist anyone coming in for counselling. In LifeLine’s training courses— specifically our Personal Growth Course—emphasis is made on the trust aspect as this is a basic element in relationships (interaction between people). During the course participants are divided into small groups where complete strangers are put together and open up to each other, trusting that what they disclose will be confidential. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of this activity so trust is maintained but it is quite scary!
At the end of the day it is important to be able to trust—it goes hand in hand with unconditional positive regard, acceptance and respect— necessary for all relationships!
