5 Areas of Therapeutic Self-care
Self-Care Activities
- Go outside and take a relaxing walk in nature.
- Have some warm tea (Chamomile is very calming!)
- Eat at your favourite restaurant, or get a take-out.
- Go on an outing – have an adventure – hiking, exploring new & interesting places.
- Play cards.
- Write down 5 things you like about yourself.
- Listen to a funny or inspiring story.
- Buy an adult colouring book & try it.
- Attend a sports event.
- Write an empowering quote on a sticky note & put it on your mirror.
- Attend a concert, play, or dance recital.
- Learn something new, e.g. a foreign language
- Step away from technology. Turn your phone off for an hour.
- Have a get-together with friends, or family.
- Enjoy your favourite dessert.
- Do not compare yourself to others and don’t dwell on the past.
- Watch a funny movie, or a stand-up comedy show.
- Live in a clean & tidy space & give away things, which you don’t need.
- Dance around the house to your favourite music.
- Visit your friends.
- Solve a puzzle, crossword, etc.
- Get a massage.
- Be creative e.g. craft work, art work.
- Try a new sport, bicycling, tennis, golf, boating, squash, etc.
- Watch your favourite TV show.
- Go to a coffee shop.
- Meditate or try yoga.
- Attend a museum or exhibit.
- Take a lengthy bath/shower.
- Stay in your pajamas all day.
- Bake something – try a new recipe or an old favourite!
- Make breakfast for dinner!
- Spend time with animals.
- Write in your journal.
- Read something inspiring.
- Take a nap.
- Write a gratitude list.
- Watch the sunset.
39. Care for your houseplants, or plant flowers. - Go swimming.
- Stop thinking negative thoughts about yourself and others.
- Listen to peaceful music.
- Join a group, e.g. photography group, bible studies group.
- Paint your nails or get a pedicure!
- Deep condition your hair.
- Get a hobby.
- Plan a vacation.
- Make a smoothie.
- Wear clothes that make you happy.
- Eat chocolate … moderately.
