That means it is now 5 percent more expensive to travel on major routes.
From Tuesday, the most expensive toll gate will be between South Africa’s major metros, Johannesburg to Durban.
The route goes through the Tugela Plaza which has increased by R4 to R82.
The increase will take the country’s most expensive mainline toll, Machadodorp Toll Plaza in the Nkangala District of Mpumalanga, to R104 up from R99 in 2021.
The most expensive toll on the route from Johannesburg through Bloemfontein is the Vaal Toll Plaza which now costs R74.50.
With the latest increases, the SA National Roads Agency will be able to claim R17-billion from South Africans over the next three years.
