Local designer aims for the sky
Rethabile Kau, the founder of fashion brand, Kultoure Fashion, is ready to release her new first official range which she says was inspired by sports. The young designer from Evaton is a graduate of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), who is pursuing her career in fashion.
Her company Kultoure Fashion was established in August 2020. She is extremely excited to introduce this brand to the South African market as well as to the world. Kultoure Fashion is a high fashion smart brand that caters for both women and men of all shapes and sizes. “The brands unique signature is a monochrome style which was inspired by the Yin and Yang sign that represents the colours black and white as one colour.
The monochrome colours consist of black, white and grey. The name ‘Kultoure’ is the infusion of the words culture and couture in this instance the word culture represented by the letter K instead of C and the word couture which means designing and manufacturing of fashionable clothes to a client’s specific requirements and measurement and that is what Kultoure Fashion represents in the South African fashion industry.
With her ambitious business minded mentality, Kau seeks to change the fashion industry through innovation and using her platform in fashion to motivate and encourage the youth.
She told Sedibeng Ster that her dream of starting her own business was born a long time ago after watching her grandmother work as a seamstress in her own fashion business and later her dream became evident when she decided to take her passion to the next level and starting her own clothing brand.
What makes Kultoure Fashion special is that the range consists of items that are very versatile and can be worn for different types of occasions. The monochrome signature makes the styling sophisticated and easy to wear.
