Welcome to The South African Community Radio Foundation
SACRF is a non profit organisation with expertise and many years of experience in radio production.We are capable of producing public service announcements, drama and live talk shows for radio.
We produce live talk shows for community radio stations in South Africa and Canada, under our South Africa/Canada Health Talk! brand. For these shows, we have community journalists researching the topics, sourcing guests for interviews, presenting and hosting the shows. Producers pre-record and edit inserts as well as assist with script writing.
The shows run for a season of 26 weekly, hour long episodes. Listeners are able to interact by calling in or messaging via SMS or WhatsApp to ask questions regarding health-related topics.
The live shows will be accompanied by a series of public service announcements on HIV/AIDS and other health related topics which is researched, scripted, translated and produced SACRF in English and other languages. Selected public service announcements produced by SACRF are also broadcast on national radio stations.
Creating Health Awareness
SACRF is collaborating with the South African/Canadian Community and University Radio Association in creating a media campaign to promote exclusive breastfeeding and the launch of human milk banks in each district.
A series of six public service announcements and five ten minute dramas dealing with issues around breastfeeding and human milk banks are being produced.
