Parys
That’s Parys with a “Y”
A surveyor enchantingly named Parys after its French counterpart, Paris. Parys reminded him of Paris situated alongside the bank of the Seine river and so is Parys situated along the Vaal River.
Parys is situated in the Vredefort Dome, the largest verified crater on earth, this alone makes Parys a very unique place, while spending your day in Parys you can think about the fact that you are walking on the ground where a meteorite hit 2 billion years ago.
Today Parys is an idyllic, holiday destination that offers a happy medium between old world country charm and adventurous outdoor activities, whatever it is that you like doing or if you are looking for something special, I’m sure Parys will be the place where you will find it, there is amazing restaurants, tours, quad biking, paintball, arts and crafts shops, 4×4 adventures, abseiling, gliding ,bird watching, fishing, golfing, horse trails, game reserves and and a not to be missed, UNESCO world heritage site. Or you can go on self drive adventures; the Parys Info Office will give you a map of the area and you can explore the Dome Area on your own time.
