Prelude to June – South African Rock Band

Since 2000, Prelude to June rocks, fusing the raw energetic and powerfull riffs of old school along with atmospheric elements, the lure of modern rock and the in your face attitude of punk.

With their debut album, “My blessing – My curse,” they made their entry into the mainstream music scene.

Their first EP (Extended Play) “Happy family” was well received with play listings on various radio stations across South Africa as well as exposure internationally via the web.

The band has also had television and media exposure nationally and shared the stage with many great South African bands while gigging extensively.

Prelude to June’s music continuously morphs from intense brutal moments into calm melodic moments. The exact emotions felt when caught between love and hate!

“Broken in two” is the first single off Prelude to June’s debut full length album called “My blessing – My curse”. With its expressive, moody and well written songs you experinece real modern rock flair and arrangements.

Their debut album consists of 13 tracks that as a whole come together as a complete concept album – The concept behind the band’s name, “Prelude to June,” their debut album’s title “My blessing – My curse” and most importantly their music and lyrics all highlight what this band is about and the themes that inspire them. The album is a continuos creative process that started early 2007 and was completed in late 2009 and then finally released nationally in February 2010.

“A prelude is the beginning of a musical piece, and we saw this fitting when we just started out in 2000. Adding the extension later sort of gave the band more direction and meaning. Prelude to June can be the journey of emotions you would take when listening to our music kind of like moving through seasons from summer to winter.”
