Water schedule for maintenance – Vaal Triangle
Pressure Reducing Valve ( PRV ) maintenance project.
The Emfuleni Local Municipality, through its water service unit Metsi-a-Lekoa has teamed up with the Rand Water Board to embark on the Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) maintenance project. The PRVs main function is to regulate the water pressure levels within the water network so that it becomes constant.
Too much pressure in the system often results in pipe burst and too little pressure simply means that higher lying areas will experience water coming out of the taps with low pressure or no water at all. A total of 37 PRV stations will be attended to and refurbished within the Municipal area.
The entire maintenance project commenced on the 21st August 2012 and will run until 18 October 2012 and it will affect almost each and every area serviced by Emfuleni Local Municipality. Consumers are therefore urged to listen to their Community Radio Stations, be on the lookout for posters and handouts and loud hailing by the Municipality in all affected areas a few days prior to the water supply shutdown.
