Keep our beaches clean – PLEASE

PLEASE – keep our beaches clean!
Our beaches rate as some of the most pristine beaches in the world! Over and above the aesthetic reasons for keeping our beaches clean, litter has a massive detrimental impact on marine life.
Entanglement is a major contributor to debris killing marine birds and animals. This results from fishing line and fishing nets.
In addition wildlife often mistakes litter for food and ingests it – eventually dying as a result. Turtles mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and the bags block their stomachs, often leading to death from starvation.
Let’s look at the main culprits – cigarette butts, lighters, cool-drink bottles (especially the caps), fishing lines & nets, plastic bags and others.
Remember Plastic never biodegrades! It just breaks down into small pieces but does not disappear.
Microplastic particles are now found inside filter feeding animals and amongst sand grains on our beaches.
So after your relaxing day on the beach, remember our animals. Have respect for our land and future generations.
