Wineries and vineyards of McGregor, Western Cape

The terroir of the McGregor valley and slopes has encouraged local farmers, whose families have farmed the valley for many generations, to turn their lands and hands to very successful wine making. Some of the  magnificent estates are also popular wedding venues.

Tanagra Wines

Tanagra Wines, McgregorTanagra is a boutique winery that produces unique and handcrafted red wines and elegant European-style Grappa/Eau de Vie in their boutique wine cellar and distillery — the very first distillery of this type in the valley.

Come and join us for wine-tasting or memorable breakfast, under the magnificent old wild fig tree at the old homestead and/or stay with us in one of the apartments or cottages.

The best time to visit is 10h00 to 17h00 during the week. If you want to make sure someone is present, please call ahead.

Lords Winery

Lord's Winery McGregor

Lord Winery is high up in the cooler area of the McGregor Valley, in a beautiful mountain setting. This special terroir and climate work in perfect harmony to produce iconic and world class wines!

Jacie Oosthuizen, whose family has farmed fruit and vegetables in this lovely valley for almost a century, was joined early in the new millennium by a group of passionate wine lovers, and hence Lord’s was born.

Koningsrivier Winery

Koningsberg Winery, McGregorWinemaker Niel Colyn is the fifth generation farmer and 1st generation winemaker of his family to be producing grapes and wine on the same farm.

Niel started handcrafting his own wines in 2002 and bottled his first wines in 2005. A growing support base is now enjoying his bold red wines.

McGregor Winery

McGregor WineryMcGregor Winery has been producing wine since 1950. The winery represents 35 producers and their quality wines capture the terroir of a timeless valley.

Winemakers Elmo du Plessis and Hugo Conradie have seen the winery through successive extensions and improvements.

The Robertson Wine Route

Robertson Wine Route, Breede River Valley, Western CapeVery close to McGregor is the Robertson Wine Route with many excellent vineyards to explore. The Robertson Wine Route meanders its way through a beautiful valley between the Langeberg and the Riviersonderend Mountains and includes the towns of Robertson, Ashton, Bonnievale and McGregor. Also known as the Robertson Wine Valley or the Breede River Valley there is much to attract tourists and day trippers including river rafting, bird watching, hiking, horse back riding and much more.
