Weltevrede – Jonker Family Wine Estate, Robertson Wine Route

Weltevrede Jonker Family Wine Estate, Robertson Wine RouteWeltevrede has been the Jonker Family Wine Estate since 1912. Although wine is the family’s passion, a visit to the estate will reveal many interesting activities which take place on the estate – art, literature, hikes, a great restaurant and accommodation, fishing, swimming and a vineyard tractor tour. The farm is situated near the town of Bonnievale in the Robertson Valley.

Lourens Jonker has been a pioneering figure in the South African wine industry and is a past chairman of KWV. His son, Phillip, runs the estate today and is well known as a Chardonnay specialist although a broad range of wines are produced from the many terroirs found on the farm. His Chardonnay Cap Classique was chosen to be served to Premium Class passengers by South African Airways during the 2010 World Cup.

Weddings and conferences can be arranged in the wine cellar for 50 to 150 people with full catering provided. A visit to the underground cellar used for maturation in the early days of the farm is combined with wine tasting by candlelight.

The estate is open for wine tasting at the following times:

Monday to Friday – 8h00 to 17h00

Saturdays and public holidays – 9h00 t0 15h30
