Vaalkop Dam Nature Reserve

The 4000ha Vaalkop Dam Nature Reserve is a popular angling spot in the North West Province of South Africa but also offers good birding, hiking and a general peaceful nature and outdoors experience for families and weekenders from Johannesburg, Rustenburg and Brits.

Fish species such as yellowfish and carp are abundant in the 1050ha dam, and over 340 bird species have been recorded in the dam and in the reserve area around the dam.

Various Plains Game species and small mammals populate the reserve around the dam.

There is a camping and caravan park at the Vaalkop Dam, and a 4×4 campsite.

For more info on Vaalkop Nature Reserve and to book.
