The Johannesburg Planetarium at Wits University

A visit to the Johannesburg Planetarium at the University of the Witwatersrand is a great family activity, but also worth the time to take in a show without kids in tow.

The Planetarium was founded in 1960, and is today one of the world’s best, with over 70 000 annual visitors.

The planetarium is open Monday to Sunday, with morning, afternoon and evening shows ready to whisk you off into the constellations – perhaps after a day exploring the palaeontology and rock art exhibitions at the The Origins Museum, also situated on the Wits University campus.

For more info on directions and to book.

Getting there: The Wits University Campus is situated off Empire Road in Yale Road, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
