St Blaize Hiking Trail, Mossel Bay, Garden Route
Take the 13.5 km St. Blaize Hiking Trail which is a spectacular cliff walk following a contour 30 meters above the sea. It is one directional and leaves from the cave at Cape St. Blaize lighthouse, The Point, Mossel Bay or from Malva Road in Dana Bay. It takes about 5-6 hours of moderate walking. Just make sure to arrange your transport back from Dana Bay if leaving from Mossel Bay. There is parking at the start and end. This walk is excellent for whale viewing in season and rugged coastal scenery and vegetation.
The trail is ranked as moderate, but do not underestimate this trail. Exits are far from main roads and the town centre. Reasonable fitness is required.
For you own safety, do not walk alone, take water to drink as there is none on the trail, wear proper shoes, take a hat and sun block, carry water and windproof clothing, arrange transport for the end, cell signal is not reliable. Beware of snakes, especially puff adders basking in the sun in summer.
