Sediba Hiking Trail, Memel

The Sediba Hiking Trail, Memel, Eastern Free State , South AfricaThe two day Sediba Hiking Trail is a carefully laid out, relatively easy but diverse trail that makes the most of the beautiful countryside and birding hotspot around the town of Memel in the Eastern Free State.

The Sediba Trail is a figure of eight base camp trail consisting of two day trails – one of 10.5km and the other 6km.

Base camp is luxurious, with a fully furnished lounge, well equipped kitchen and deck – in fact, a stay at the Sediba Camp is a holiday in itself.

Day one of the trail takes you over rolling grassland hills, through rocky gorges and kranze, mountain streams, rock pools and through pockets of old wood forest. Numerous bridges and ladders have been built to assist hikers with the trickier areas, making for a fun and interesting route with plenty of rock pools to swim in, waterfalls, and areas to stop and eat and enjoy the surroundings and bidlife.

Day two is a leisurely trail with great views of the lush countryside, again a treat for birders.

Groups of up to 30 people can be accommodated on the trail.
