Rugged Glen Nature Reserve lies just north of the Royal Natal National Park in the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park in KwaZulu-Natal. Although relatively small, this beautiful reserve contains the best that the Drakensberg has to offer including great trout fishing, stunning hiking trails, mountain climbing and birdwatching with magnificent views of the escarpment.

In particular the Camel’s Hump rock formation and the Forest Walk must not be missed. The Camel’s Hump is a spectacular rock formation and from the top you will enjoy views over the entire park. The reserve also offers horse riding and numerous picnic spots. Campsite accommodation is also available within the reserve.

Getting there: Northern Drakensberg, adjoining Royal Natal National Park. Approaching from Mooi River follow the N3 northwards for 52 km, turn left onto the R615 and continue past Winterton and Bergville. At the foot of the Oliviershoek Pass, turn left and follow the signposts.
