Royal Port Alfred Golf Club, Port Alfred, Eastern Cape
Royal Port Alfred Golf Course is situated on the south east coast of South Africa in the Eastern Cape Province between the cities of East London and Port Elizabeth. The first nine holes were laid out in 1907 and the second nine followed a year later. It was redesigned in 1916 to become one the most popular links courses in South Africa.
It is set on the rolling hills surrounding Port Alfred, a popular coastal resort town on the mouth of the Kowie River. Beautiful sea views, an abundance of game and indigenous bush make for a very pleasant and challenging golfing experience.
In typical links tradition the 5800 metre course will test your ability to deal with the elements. The humps and hollows on the fairways will add to the challenges presented by the windswept layout. However, this is one of the most popular links courses in south Africa and is a must play for visitors.
