Medike Mountain Reserve is situated near Louis Trichardt in a declared Natural Heritage Site where the Sand River cuts through the Soutpansberg in a spectacular gorge.
A spectacular eco-tourism option, Medike is a destination for those who appreciate ecologically friendly facilities and being active in their appreciation of nature’s beauty.
Medike offers many activities on the property and in the surrounding Soutpansberg and Blouberg, from hiking trails to mountain-biking, fishing trips, birding and rock climbing and rock art trails. On the Reserve itself, marked hiking trails encourage you wander about blissfully all day long, taking in the indigenous mountain flora and fauna.
Accommodation is self-catering, with a number of interesting traditional cottage options. Medike is ‘off the grid’ and uses donkey geysers, solar power and gas appliances. Oil lamps are also provided for lighting.
