Maselspoort Resort, Bloemfontein
If you find yourself in Bloemfontein with kids, and / or if you are a keen on fishing, stars, horse riding, 4×4, booze-cruising or game viewing, head to Maselspoort for the day or even the weekend. This small resort and conferencing centre offers a host of family activities, and is popular with locals.
Activities include hiking and mtb on several short trails on the resort, game drives in open game viewing vehicles,fishing in the Modder River for yellow fish, catfish and carp, or lazy afternoons on the river barge, 4×4 training on a 4×4 track, a Supertubes slide which is as much fun for adults as it is for kids, volleyball, tennis and mini golf.
Maselspoort is also a very popular conferencing centre and well set up for events, with great restaurants, accommodation and camping facilities.
As for the ‘stars’…the Boyden Observatory is situated right next door to Maselspoort.
Getting there: Maselspoort is situated 26km from Bloemfontein on the N8 – head toward the airport.
