Makutsi Safari Springs, Valley of the Olifants, Limpopo
Makutsi Safari Springs is a beautiful private Big 5 game reserve 45km north of Hoedspruit in the Valley of the Olifants, or ‘Mopani’ district. of the Limpopo.
Makutsi offers a somewhat unique safari experience thanks to two natural mineral springs on the property, which bubble up into pools surrounded by lush vegetation and also thanks to the safari packages they offer – the longest being for 5 whole weeks!
Makutsi conducts game drives on Makutsi, but also arranges tours and excursions into the surrounding area, rich with the natural beauty of the area – lush tropical and lowveld bush vegetation, attractions and wildlife experiences, and the Kruger National Park.
At Makutsi, the emphasis is on peace and tranquility, and accommodation is offered in quaint rondawel cottages and a tented camp. Viewing decks over the Makutsi River offer incredible close-ups of game as they come to drink and animals that can be seen include the Big 5 – elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino.
Getting there: Makutsi is situated on the R36 45km north of Hoedspruit, but contact them as part of their safari packages includes collecting guests at Hoedspruit’s airport. If you are driving, take the R527 north from Hoedspruit.
