Maccauvlei Golf Course, Vereeniging, Vaal, Gauteng
The Maccauvlei Golf Course is situated along the banks of the Vaal River near Vereeniging in Gauteng and is about 80 kms from Johannesburg. The 18-hole parklands championship course was upgraded by Peter Matkovich in 1999 and is rated in the top 40 courses in South Africa. It has played host to many big tournaments and is the home course of well known PGA & European Tour professional, Charl Swartzel.
The fairways on this beautiful parkland course are always well kept with superbly manicured greens. The course also has 90 bunkers – including the biggest bunker in South Africa, a 120-meter long desert of sand at the par-four 17th hole.
Visitors welcome every day. Not open on Mondays.
Directions: Closest town Vereeniging (2 km). From Vereeniging, follow Voortrekker Street to the Vaal River, drive past the Riviera Hotel and Country Club. At the bridge turn left over the river. Sign to the golf club a little further.
