Lesoba Hiking Trail, Eastern Free State Highlands

The Lesoba Hiking Trail is a difficult one day trail with magnificent views near Fouriesburg and Clarens in the Eastern Free State Highlands.

lesoba-hiking-trailsThe difficulty is due to extreme ascents and descents, but there are several trail options  within the main route varying from 5 – 10 km. No children under 14 are permitted, but otherwise, take lots of water and should anything go wrong, the farms is right there…

The views are exceptional! The reward for your effort on the ascents is magnificent views over the Caledon River Valley and the Maluti Mountain Range – all the way into Lesotho.

The Lesoba Trail is private, beginning and ending on the Lesoba Guest Farm where you overnight in charming stone cottages between the river and a magnificent Sandstone overhang. The cottages have braai facilities and basics, but you need to bring your own bedding, wood and all supplies. You can also camp.

A second route of 7 km is a bit steeper, but offers a challenge for the following day for anyone who hasn’t had enough of the magnificent views, sandstone formations and mountain air!
