Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve, Hectorspruit
Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve offers and exclusive and amazing safari holiday in an area of South Africa that is famed for its superior game viewing.
The 4000ha reserve is situated just outside of Hectorpsruit between Malelane and Komatipoort on the Mozambique border, in an area of dense, lush bush.
Kwa Madwala means ‘Place of the Rock in the local Swazi language, and the reserve is named after a large hill with unusual rock formations, one of which looks like an elephant.
There are three accommodation options on the reserve – the Manyatta Rock Camp which is nestled on the slopes and among the rocks on the aforementioned hill for which the reserve is named, the Gazebo Bush Lodge – also built on a hillock and offering superb views over the reserve, and the self-catering Kingfisher Bush Camp.
Activities include game drives, night drives, walking safaris, elephant-back safaris, horse-back safaris, air safaris, Kruger Park safaris, cultural village tours, tours to the Panorama Route and tours into neighbouring Mozambique.
Most big game and other animal species are represented in Kwa Madwala, with the exception of cheetah as they vegetation is quite thick – it is not therefore a natural cheetah habitat. It is ideal for leopards however, and there is an active leopard conservation project being conducted on Kwa Madwala to help us learn more about these majestic big cats.
Getting there: Take the N4 from Malelane turning right on to the R570 1km before Hectorspruit. Travel for 4.5km till you see the sign for Kwa Madwala.
