Kouga Wilderness Area, Langkloof, Eastern Cape

The Kouga Wilderness Area in the Eastern Cape is a Private Nature Reserve that is also referred to as the Kouga Nature Reserve or Game Reserve. The reserve is situated in the Langkoof area of the Eastern Cape Garden Route, near Baviaans, and is a privately owned ‘partner’ of the Baviaans Mega Reserve.

The area is declared around the working Kleinrivier sheep and fruit farm, where the owners have endeavoured to preserve flora and fauna, including predator species such as the African lynx (rooikat) and the elusive Cape leopard.

Many outdoors and adventure activities are either offered or encouraged on the reserve, including hiking, 4×4 trails, abseiling, rock climbing and mountain-biking. A rock climbing instructor is available for climbs on Leopard Rock.

There are several different accommodation options available – from farmhouse self-catering  and chalet accommodation, to bush-camp and amazing campsites in the kloof.
