Kloovenburg Wine Estate, Swartland Wine Route
Kloovenburg Wine Estate is situated close to the quaint town of Riebeek Kasteel on the picturesque slopes of the Kasteel Mountain. The history of the farm goes back to the mid 18th century but the first bottled wines were only produced by the du Toit family in 1998.
The combination of cold, wet winters, dry summers when drip irrigation is controlled based on soil moisture readings and the varied climatic and soil conditions on the slopes of the mountain, make it possible to produce a wide variety of quality red and white wines. The estate is planted to 60% red and 40% white producing award winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Merlot, Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Colombar, Pinot Noir and Pontac.
The estate also produces a range of olive products from its own olive groves.
The estate is an hour’s drive north east of Cape Town and is open for tasting at the following times:
Monday to Friday – 9h00 to 16h30
Saturday – 9h00 to 14h00
