Klein Paradys Equestrian Centre, Bot River, Overberg
Bot River is home to the Klein Paradys Equestrian centre, where the owners, Sue and Manfred, have 17 years of experience, riding in the Overberg area. They have been able to put together a number of trails that take in all the different outdoor experiences the area has on offer. Canter on the beautiful beaches, see the wild horses at Bot River Lagoon, take on the fynbos covered mountains, fruit orchards or do a wine tasting vineyard trip. Many of the trips offer lunch at interesting farm stalls or wine farms.
The horses are handpicked and well trained. Your riding skills are taken into account when a mount is picked out for your trail. If you are tall or heavier – don’t worry, we have horses up to 16.2 hands!
A very popular ride is the half-day trail to the Houw Hoek Inn for tea or lunch. This trail is suitable for inexperienced or experienced riders; other trails are a one hour vineyard trail – suitable for the person who cannot ride, or the unfit | a two hour trail with great views – suitable for people who can trot and canter | a wine-tasting trail – suitable for any level of rider, you decide how long & how many wineries to visit | a beach trail on Kleinmond Beach – track down the wild horses, only for people who can ride | choose between a two hour or full day trail with lunch at “Dassiesfontein”, only fit, regular riders as this ride has lots of trotting and cantering through great scenery, over hills, through rivers and wheat fields.
Klein Paradys have also put together some fantastic special offers to those who wish to take part in lengthy riding, including a 5 day Riding Package, where riders can enjoy the scenes, flora and fauna of the Overberg region, on horseback. Every day is a completely different trail, incorporating a beach day, a mountain day, exploring the apple orchards & vineyards – all with lunch en route.
