Goldfields West Golf Course, Carletonville,
Goldfields West Golf Course owes its existence to the development of one of the richest gold mines in the world, West Driefontein. The course is situated about 75 Km west of Johannesburg near the mining town of Carletonville in a rich verdant valley above the gold mine.
The course was laid out by the renowned Bob Grimsdell and is today one of the top hundred courses in South Africa. It is characterised by bushveld through which the lush fairways find their way to greens planted with local grass which prove to be quite challenging because of the nap.
Wildlife in the form of springbok, blesbok, impala and a couple of zebras add to the natural ambience of the course. One of the more beautiful holes is the par three 6th which plays from an elevated tee down to a green guarded by a dam and bunkers on either side.
The clubhouse has full amenities and is able to host functions.
