Glenvista Country Club, Johannesburg, Gauteng
Glenvista Golf Course is part of the Glenvista Country Club situated in Glenvista, to the south of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. The club was founded in 1967 and the course was opened for play in 1973. The location is ideal in a well watered valley with interesting slopes and a small stream from a deep gorge called Klipriviersberg Ridge.
In 1993 all the greens were replanted with bent grass to USPGA standards. This area is prone to dry spells so an irrigation system was installed making dry, brown fairways a thing of the past. Six hundred indigenous trees were also planted which combined with five dams and the perennial stream, have resulted in a course with character and some interesting challenges. The abundant water and the trees have brought the birdlife back to the course.
The club house boasts all the facilities one could possibly want and is ideally suited for functions. The large bar has been extended to cater for increased membership and the lounge has also been refurbished and includes a second bar for functions.
