Gary Player Country Club and the Lost City Golf Course
These superb courses are located at the Sun City/Lost City Complex in the North West Province about 2 hours drive from Johannesburg. Not only are they a great golfing experience, but offer other exciting activities like the Valley of the Waves, the Pilansberg National Park, the casinos and the extensive entertainment at the hotels.
The Gary Player Country Club championship course is the venue for the annual Nedbank Challenge competed for by a select group of top world ranked golf professionals. This 18 hole course is difficult and demanding and requires stamina and accuracy from players.
Water hazards, cunningly sited bunkers and pins hidden away on kidney shaped greens makes up for the lack of gradient. The course measures over 7 000 meters which makes it one of the longest in the world. Visitors not allowed only hotel residents permitted to play.
The Lost City Golf Course has golfers astounded by its breathtaking beauty. The rich green fairways give a dramatic contrast to the bushveld backdrop and the barren waste bunkers are a special feature of this intriguing course. Gary Player has acknowledged it as one of his favourite courses. From the Nile Crocodiles on the 13th hole, no effort was spared to make the course a masterpiece. Not open Tuesdays – Visitors welcome everyday.
