Franschhoek Wine Route, Cape WinelandsThe Franschhoek Valley is one of the most beautiful areas in South Africa and must not be missed by visitors to the Western Cape. Take in the scenic splendour and the charm of this historic town while touring some the best wine estates in the country. Although there are sixteen estates in this small valley, there are few cellar tours. Most are located in the Franschhoek Cooperative in Main Street. However, don’t miss visiting the estates – the architecture, fine restaurants, museums and the wine tasting will make your day.

The Boschendal Wine Estate dates back to 1685 when it was owned by French Huguenot, Jean le Long. Today it is one of the leading producers of red wine in South Africa having won numerous national and international awards. Learn more …
