Boondocks Labyrinth, Kaapmuiden

And now…for something a little different…

The Boondocks Mountain Lodge near Kaapmuiden in the Lowveld offers a stone labyrinth walk in a small forest above a pristine nature reserve.

The Boondocks Labyrinth is situated on a hill above the 2200ha Boondocks bushveld reserve – home to a number wild animal species including various species of antelope, Zebra, baboons, monkeys and warthog.

The Labyrinth path was built on the design of an historic labyrinth in France, but what the original labyrinth at Charles Cathedral doesn’t have is the views of the bushveld and mountains cradling Kaapmuiden, the howls of monkeys and the barks of baboons, and the option of a game drive after the ‘laying of the feet’ and the ‘stilling of the mind’.

Day visitors are welcomed to walk the labyrinth and to bring picnic baskets. There is no cell phone reception at the labyrinth site, which is situated next to mountain stream and among trees, adding to the peace and relaxation offered by the walk, and extras such as an open-air shower and spa bath add a touch of natural luxury to the route.
