Black Oystercatcher Winery, Elim, Cape Agulhas
The family run Black Oystercatcher Vineyard and Winery, close to the historic village of Elim, is part of the Elim Wine Growers Association.
The boutique wines offer crisp yet elegant, fruity flavours, formed by the cool coastal winds, the unique Elim soil and the distinctive winemaking philosophy. The wines are top quality of an excellent standard.
Part of the reason for the excellent wine is that the grapes, grown in the cool tip of Africa winds, are smaller than usual – with more intense flavours as a result.
Once the grapes are ripe, they are handpicked, and softly worked, as the land – in the most natural way.
Black Oystercatcher boutique wines have accumulated numerous awards since launching. The 2005 Sauvignon Blanc was rated in the top 10 wines at the WineX exhibition in 2005. The 2006 White Pearl was rated in the top 50 white blends in South Africa by Caroline’s Fine Wine. Decanter magazine also recently commissioned wine connoisseur Christian Eedes to review the wines produced by the Elim wine growers. He rated the Black Oystercatcher 2008 White Pearl as a 4-star highly recommended wine.
Black Oystercatcher Wines, is also home to the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant and the Black Oystercatcher Wedding Venue.
Experience the Strandveld in a whole new way, with cycling routes for beginners to advanced. All routes begin at Black Oystercatcher Wines. Bring your family to relax at the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, while you go for a spin.
