Benoni Country Club, East Rand, Gauteng
Benoni Golf Course is part of the Benoni Country Club situated on the East Rand in Gauteng, South Africa. The club was founded in 1906 during the early days of gold mining in the Johannesburg area.
The well known course designer Bob Grimsdell had a hand in the revamp of the course some time ago and more recently Rog O’Friel modernised the greens and the bunkers and is now one of the top hundred courses in South Africa. The layout is traditional parkland with well wooded, flat fairways – it has definitely stood the test of time.
Although the course is laid out in a densely populated urban area it has retained its country feel, so much so that antelope have been introduced – you will see the odd blesbok or springbok on your round.
The club house has excellent facilities and catering and is ideal for large functions at reasonable prices.
