Barrydale Hand Weavers, Barrydale

Barrydale Hand WeaversBarrydale Hand Weavers in the village of Barrydale in the Klein Karoo region, is a group of people weaving rugs and fabrics on wooden hand looms the old fashioned way. This project trains people who may be otherwise unemployed in the skill of weaving, enabling them to provide for their families through the sale of their products.

The weavers are encouraged to use their design skills by introducing colour and pattern into the woven products. This flexibility creates a unique range of pure cotton products in vibrant colours as well as in earthy, natural tones. Rugs, tableware, throws and shawls are all in the range. Guest houses and lodges find the rugs and bedcovers very suitable as they are durable and can stand years of wash and wear. Although there is stock of standard sizes all products can be made to specification to suit the client.

Discuss special orders or just browse around the factory shop which is open 7 days a week from 08:00h to 17:00h Monday to Friday, 09:00h to 13:00h Saturdays and Sundays.
