Atlantis Dunes 4×4 Trail, Atlantis, Cape Town
As well as 4×4 trails, Atlantis Dunes has braai facilities, making it a great spot for a day out with the whole family.
The trails are fairly easy, but if it’s your first time on dunes, you should take it easy to acquaint yourself with the terrain and slopes. You must get a permit from the Atlantis Municipality beforehand (you can’t pay at the entrance).
Some sections are tricky to navigate and clutches can become casualties. It’s not suitable for 4x2s and low-range and GPS are essential.
While it can be very challenging and a good place to hone your skills, it can become tedious if you stick only to the easier dunes.
Getting there: From Cape Town, take the R27 towards Langebaan and pass the power station on your left. Turn right at Dassenberg Road and continue for about four kilometres. The Dunes Gate 1 Entrance is on the left.
