4×4 and Hiking Trails at Camelroc Farm, Eastern Free State

4x4 and Hiking at Camelroc Guest Farm, Fouriesburg, Free State, South Africa

The Camelroc Farm just outside Fouriesburg near Caledonspoort in the Eastern Free State offers a challenging 6km 4×4 trail and hiking trails, with the added bonus of spectacular views.

If you don’t have your own 4×4 vehicle, you can do the 4×4 trail with the owner.

There are two day hikes – one of 9km and another of 3km. The 9km hike is a fairly challenging hike with a winding ascent up the The Camel Head sandstone formation, through densely forested and bushy terrain and overhangs. Features include a cave called ‘God’s Window’, a ledge walk and a semi-suspension bridge and views of the Maluti Mountains before the descent.

The 3km trail is gentler with some climbing but also riverine ambling.

The Camelroc Farm offers cottage guest house accommodation with a big flatscreen for watching sports and a swimming pool. Day permits are required or those not staying over, but they are welcome to use the facilities.
