Stellenbosch restaurants tackling self-isolation
How these Stellenbosch restaurants are tackling self-isolation
STELLENBOSCH, 20 March 2020 – In the past 48 hours, 3 new food delivery options launched in Stellenbosch.
With South Africans still coming to terms with self-isolation, school closures and ‘business unusual’, the general mood is one of concern and uncertainty.
Overnight, the South African Government offered clarity around new regulations affecting licensed restaurants, bars, taverns, shebeens and liquor stores (no alcohol to be sold after 6pm between Monday and Friday and 1pm on weekends) – including limiting the number of people allowed on the premises (50) – in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
There is little to celebrate. But, as so often happens in unprecedented times, there are businesses who step up, grab the opportunity and start doing things a little differently.
In the past 24 hours alone, three Stellenbosch eateries announced new takeaway menus, curbside service or ready-made meal options. Great news for Stellenbosch locals!
Bertus Basson continues to raise the culinary bar and has announced two new curbside services to accommodate social distancing: Pasta Rapido and Bertus se Huiskos.
